Ooh...Songfic time. This is Savage Garden song, one of my favorites from their first album, and I take no credit for the lyrics! Raise your hand if you feel like smacking Reeve once in awhile! *raises hand*

(Well don't you know I need a little indulgence?
Listen to the hunter becoming hunted)

He *needed* to see Tseng. There was such a strong stirring in his heart that nothing could have kept him from walking down that hallway to his friend's office.

His mind was frantic, reminding as he walked. He's not supposed to know... If I keep acting like this he may catch on... He ignored himself, and stopped outside Tseng's office.

(Every day there's a million advances don't be too forceful you'll ruin your chances)

He halted, suddenly feeling nervous for some strange reason. Wiping his sweaty palms on his pants he licked his dry lips and rapped on the door.

Ah, but it seemed like forever came and went while he waited. Why am I even here? I shouldn't be...

(Well don't you know time is a broken glass that splinters against the wall)

Just before he was about to lose his nerve and turn back, only to go hide back in his office, the door swung open and there was his beloved Turk looking somewhat surprised.

Tseng blinked. "Reeve?" He paused, cocking his head slightly to one side. "Is there a problem? Does the President need to see me?"

He said nothing as he stepped into the office, forcing his friend to back up.

    "Reeve?"

Reeve shut the door. I love, Tseng....I....I just can't tell you... But I don't doubt my feelings. Never....ever...

(But the picture is coming back now baby and I want to take it all)

I won't let him know.... I won't let him know....

"Reeve? Is something wrong?" He looked generally concerned as he reached out to place a hand on his friend's shoulder.

The older man reached back, taking Tseng by the shoulders. I want to tell you.... I want to tell you so much.... But I can't.... I just.... "Tseng..."

    "Reeve?"

(Don't go making all these promises you know you cannot keep)

    "Sorry, I...."

"What?" His black eyes pleaded. "What is it? Is something wrong?"

He shook his head. "No. Nothing's wrong."

(There's a time to play a king and time to be the thief)

The Turk was understandably confused. "You don't usually come in here like this."

Uh-oh.... Reeve panicked. "Do you want me to leave?" I *promised* myself! Can't let him know.... Can't let him know...

The young man shook his head. "No. Not at all." The edge of his lips curled up into a smile. "Reeve, I love it when you're near me."

And I love it when you're near me....

('Cause if you're making all these promises you know you cannot keep)

"I was just a little surprised you came in here and..." he looked at where Reeve held his shoulders, trailing off.

"Oh?" he cast his eyes downward. "I....I..." I just wanted to show you how much I love you...without letting you know...

(You know time will be the thief and your fallen king will end up alone)

The older man moved closer, pressing the length of his body against the Turks. Tseng's breath quickened and he looked up into his friend's dark green eyes in surprise.

"Reeve, I--" he began, not moving. "....um....here?"

I need you.....oh....uh...think of some excuse! Quick! "I just wanted to thank you again."

Tseng brought his chin to his chest, looking away from Reeve. "Reeve.....I told you it wasn't necessary..."

(So let your body move a little bit closer)

I can't say anything....not a word....not without letting you know how much I.... He took the Turk firmer in his arms, bringing their faces close together. "Tseng..."

Tseng looked up, his lips centimeters from the other mans. "Oh, Reeve...I love you."

I love you too.... Instead he said, "I know, my friend."

(Silent like the sound preceding a cyclone)

Without word or warning, Reeve shifted the younger man in his arms, so he had him held sideways, leaning back, just like out of a scene from a movie.

Tseng was shocked, and he smiled. "Reeve!"

The other man smiled too, grinning down at his love. Then he bent his head down and in a forceful yet gentle movement, took the other man's lips.

(Don't you know that powerful thinking)

Oh, I love you, Tseng....I love you so much it scares me. He deepened the kiss, probing the willing mouth with his tongue, holding the younger man's body tightly against his own.

(Can be a force you dont want to relinquish)

Tseng responded with equal passion, stroking his tongue against Reeve's, his arms around the older man's neck.

(Well don't you know that)

Reeve opened his mouth as widely as he could, as if he could become one with Tseng just through kissing. He stroked up and down his lover's spine with his fingertips, and he smiled upon hearing the younger man moan softly.

(They say that hanging on will justify the wait?)

Eyes squeezed tightly shut in an effort to block the world around him,Tseng moaned softly with every stroke of Reeve's tongue against his. He rubbed up against his friend, forgetting they were in his office, forgetting they were at work, forgetting that anything existed outside that deep, passionate kiss they were both locked into.

I want....I just want.... So many thoughts were flashing through Reeve's mind as he continuously massaged the younger man's tongue. But what I want I can't have, Tseng..... Oh gods... How hard it is not to give in... Not to strip you right here, cover you in kisses and rest inside you....and finally--*finally*-- tell you I love you *over* and *over*. If I said it a million times it wouldn't be enough....

(but patience and elated wisdom)

They were so wrapped up in what they were doing that neither realized when the door opened and remained so. Neither of the saw the shocked figure in the doorway for a good ten seconds, and by then it was far too late to make any excuses.

(don't share a common phrase)

A shiver ran up Reeve's spine as he realized someone was there. In an instant he released the Turk and pushed him away, backing up as he laid eyes on the figure who had entered without knocking.

(Don't go making all these promises you know you cannot keep)

    Reno.

(There's a time to play a king and a time to be the thief)

The red head was frozen in shock and said nothing.

('Cause if you're making all these promises you know you cannot keep)

"Reno, you should have knocked," Tseng said sternly.

(You know time will be the thief and your fallen king will end up alone)

Reeve couldn't say anything. He was far too mortified. He was barely able to breathe.

"I....I..." Reno slowly emerged from his daze and looked for one man to the other in confusion. "I.....I'm sorry." He fled the room like an embarrassed child.

(Well, I'm only hanging on for what goes down)

Reeve ran a hand over his face, turning to face the wall. I want to die...strike me dead, please... This is my nightmare.

Tseng was hurt by Reeve's embarrassment, but hid it well. "I'll talk to him," he promised, immediately heading for the door. He stopped and turned back upon reaching it. "It will be all right Reeve."

    Reeve didn't answer.

(I'm floating high and my feet don't touch the ground)

"Reno!" Tseng called his subordinates name, hurrying to catch up. "Reno, stop!"

The younger man did, but he didn't turn around. "I said I was sorry. I should have knocked."

Tseng halted, staying a good distance away. For a moment he was silent. "Go ahead," he finally said, voice gentle. "Ask it."

Reno spun and cut right to the chase. "Are you gay?"

Tseng nodded slowly. "Yes. I like men."

The other Turk hesitated before posing his next question. "...And Reeve? I thought he was....you know....straight."

His boss was silent as he licked his lips and thought frantically. What am I supposed to tell him? The truth about it? How he was so desperately for love he'd turn anywhere...even to another man?....I can't expect him to understand that. I don't want to down right lie to him...but I think it's the best way. I'm sorry, Reeve. "He's bi."

(I'd take advantage but I can't see through this charade)

Reno blinked, but nodded in acceptance. "That's....cool." He answered finally, still nodding. "I'm fine with that. It doesn't bother me. Everything's the same between us."

Tseng let out the breath he had been holding. "Thank you, Reno."

The red head looked away. "Again, I'm really sorry I just walked in like that." He paused. "I won't tell anyone."

    "Thank you, Reno."

(So don't you)

Tseng returned to his office, where Reeve still stood facing the wall. He shut the door and addressed him. "Reeve, it's all right. I explained it."

The other man remained where he was. "What did you tell him about you?"

    "The truth."

    "And about me?"

The Turk licked his lips and hesitated, taking a few steps forward. "...I couldn't tell him the truth, Reeve....so I....I....I told him you were bi."

(Don't go make it harder than hell)

Reeve spun, eyes flashing. "You told him I was BI?!" He was clearly furious.

"I'm sorry," Tseng apologized, "but there was no other way, Reeve."

('Cause when it comes down to the making)

"You *know* I'm not!" he snapped, advancing towards his friend. "You *know* that, Tseng! Now he thinks I am!"

Tseng's eyes narrowed and he yelled right back. "Well what was I *supposed* to tell him, Reeve? That you were so desperate for anyone to love you that you even came to me, another man? Did you actually think he would understand that--that you don't really love me, but you stay with me anyway?" He could feel the tears in his eyes and hated himself for it. Crying again, Tseng? Why must I always resort to this..... He clenched his fists. "Put yourself in my place for once, Reeve."

(You better be damned sure you can take it)

The other man froze as he saw the tears in his friends eyes, as his words pierced his heart. I *do* love you, Tseng....I just....why must this be so hard? He blinked, then cast his eyes downward. "I'm sorry."

(Hey baby)

The Turk turned his face away, wiping away his tears. "It's fine."

Reeve embraced him, holding him close, hands stroking up and down his back as Tseng cried into him. "I'm sorry....I'm sorry.........I...I do love you, my friend."

(Don't go making all these promises you know you cannot keep)

"Not in the way Reno would assume. Not in the way I love you."

(There's a time to play a king and a time to be the thief)

Reeve swallowed but said nothing. "He won't tell anyone, will he?"

    "No. He promised."

(Cause if you're making all these promises you know you cannot keep)

    "Can I trust that?"

    "Can you trust me?"

(You know time will be the theif and your fallen king will end up alone)

Reeve didn't answer. He could trust Tseng, but despite his confidence in his fellow Turk, Reeve felt a nagging sensation that he couldn't trust him.

He stepped away from the Turk. "I'll see you later."

    "Yes."

(Time will be the thief)

Reeve walked back to his office, sick to his stomach. That was close. Far too close. He couldn't be found out...

(And your fallen king will end up...)

Distance...I have to restrain myself....it's sad that I feel this way, but I can't let anyone else know that I....that I...

    I'm sorry, Tseng.

(A fool, a fool, a lonely sorry fool)

He went into his office, locked the door, and smoked a cigarette.

(Oh baby, 'cause I told you baby)
